Southeast Asia Buzz List; Hong Kong Filmart; Streamlined Two-Year Anniversary
A short newsletter this week as I’m busy prepping Deadline’s Filmart online dailies, but wanted to share a few things:
Firstly, I’ve finally updated the Buzz List of projects coming out of Southeast Asia, available here, and you can see that this continues to be one of the most cinematically exciting regions in Asia. A big thank you to the growing posse of Southeast Asian uber-producers who helped me to compile the list.
Secondly, it’s exactly two years today (March 11) since I launched Streamlined, as a newsletter service that aims to provide a different perspective on the global content industries outside of North America and Europe. Streamlined sailed past the 1,000-subscriber mark late last year and the number of readers continues to climb. All I can say is that I’m deeply humbled and grateful that you’ve agreed to come on this journey with me.
Also, a heads up that I’ll soon be launching a new content strand as a paid service, while continuing to provide a free newsletter. The long-term intention of Streamlined is to become a self-sustaining platform, one free of the dual constraints of contract publishing and search engine optimisation, and that can one day bring on board journalists in under-represented territories. More on this soon..
Thirdly, Filmart kicks off in Hong Kong today. There’s a lot to say about what is happening in Hong Kong at the moment, but I want to see what happens at the market this week before writing anything for Streamlined. In the meantime, I’m sharing links to all the preview features I’ve written for Deadline. It’s not all pretty, please don’t shoot the messenger.
